My experience. Casting Pekin Express.

Pekin Express is a tv show broadcasted in Antena 3. It is about adventurous people , ten pairs exacly that go to Asia to live an incredible experience.It lasts about one month and a half and the adventurous do not know the destination so they have to disocover it. You have to overcome obstacles in each country, normally four or five different countries. The aim of the adventure is to overcome the obstacles and try to arrive the first one to each objetive until arrive to the last country . Last year , it was filmed in  Myanmar, Malasia and Singapur. They just have one euro each day and they just can use it for eat , not to transport. They have to trust in people and sleep in houses of the citizens.

Well , since the first time I saw this programmeI wanted to take part in it but I was just thirteen years old so it was not possible. Last year was broadcasted in tv so I decided to sign up for next year. My mother in law is an adventurous soul like me so we decided to call to the several castings.

Six months later I was in my apparment when I saw on the internet that the registration deadline was opened. I phoned Pekin Express and they asked me several questions about my mother in law and me. All types of questions. They told me that if they were interested in us , they will get in touch again. Suddenly , two weeks after they called me and they asked me alot of questions again , the day after they phoned me and ask me about my facebook profile . Also , they asked me to do a questionnaire, a video of Juani (my mother in law) and me , other video each one about us, a dialogue, photos about us, a presentation script etc...We had to send it two days later. I had to go to Cartagena so I could not go to class , we started to do the questionnare from 9:00pm until 2:00pm so let's imagine how long was it... The day after we had to filmed the video around Cartagena , it had to be original so it was a hard work, we spent all the day doing everythig they told us. Finally we sent it.

A week after , Pekin Express called us  congratulating us because we were very lucky , we were in the final , they told us that we had to go to Valencia to do the face to face casting. Then we were really nervous.
Four days later , we went to Valencia, it was in a hotel. We were waiting for our turn while we were seeing different people coming into the casting. When it was our turn, we were anxious but when we started talking we got relaxed. It was curious because the first thing they said us in the casting was: 'Get undressed ,please' , we were shocked but we laugh , they were joking. They asked us about our lives and they laughalot with us because Juani is comic relief.The questions were similar as the questionnaire questions , they wanted to know if were saying the truth. They challenged us to know how we reacted. We spent 20 minutes there while other people were spending around five or ten minutes , so we were very exciting. They said us that if were chosen for the tv show , they will call us in two weeks. Unfortunatly , we did not recieved any called.

It was a really nice experience and we were concious that the casting was done in different places of Spain so there were many people. We are glad to be one of the last selection and have this experince. We want to participate next year , we would not give up.
